White Rogers Thermostat Recall
Effective April 30, 2014, Four models of White Rogers thermostats are being recalled due to fire hazards. The hazard is caused by alkaline batteries used in the thermostat can leak onto the circuit board creating a risk of fire.
In total there were approximately 740,000 thermostats recalled in the United States and they were sold at equipment manufacturers, hvac distributers and hardware stores nationwide. The recall affects thermostats that were sold from January 2006 through December 2013.
These recalled White Rogers thermostats are white with blue lighted screens and are branded under one of the following names:
- COMFORTSENTRY
- DICO
- Emerson
- Frigidaire
- Maytag
- Nutone
- Partners Choice
- Rheem
- Ruud
- Unico
- Water Furnace
- Westinghouse
- White-Rogers
- Zonefirst
These thermostats have been reported in 7 cases of burn damage to the thermostat. Two of these cases involved minor property damage but no injuries have been reported.
