Spring Ductless A/C System

June 4, 2020 by cmpdigital

When’s the best time to save on comfortable, affordable air conditioning?

Spring is the ideal time to install ductless air conditioning in your home with SECCO Home Services! Install a Mitsubishi ductless air conditioning or heat pump system and feel the        relief in every room of your home.

What are the Options for a Ductless System?

There are a variety of options for ductless systems.  They include:

  • Multi-Zone Heat Pump
  • Hyper-Heating Heat Pump
  • Single Zone Heat Pump
  • Single Zone Cooling

There isn’t a better time to have ductless air conditioning installed in your home to start feeling the benefits of ductless air conditioning!

We encounter three situations where Mitsubishi Electric ductless cooling systems are a good option for  homeowners:

1) Homes without ductwork – Is your home heated with a natural gas boiler and doesn’t have the air ducts/vents required for central air conditioning? If it’s impossible or impractical to install HVAC ductwork into your home, ductless air conditioning is an attractive alternative.

2) Certain room(s) routinely too hot – If your home’s current cooling system isn’t making particular areas/rooms sufficiently comfortable, our Mitsubishi Electric products can provide a supplemental source of cooling*.

3) Small home additions or renovations – If you’re adding a room onto your house, it may be difficult or expensive to join it with your home’s existing heating-and-cooling system. Mitsubishi Electric ductless air conditioners allow you to comfortably cool your home addition. It also works great for enclosed patios and three- or four-season rooms.

Mitsubishi’s Ductless Heating/Cooling Works Great for:

  • Enclosed patios & sunrooms
  • Basements
  • Home offices
  • House additions/bonus rooms
  • Entire homes where ductwork isn’t practical or possible

What are you waiting for? We’re busy installing new systems! Call 717.417.4509 NOW to have a Expert Ductless Air Conditioning Technician show you the best ductless options for your home.

Switched to Natural Gas Within the Last 5 Years? What You Need to Know Now!

January 20, 2020 by cmpdigital

[vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1579553960768{padding-top: 50px !important;padding-right: 100px !important;padding-left: 100px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]If you or your neighbors switched to Natural Gas within the last 5 Years, your sewer line, home and safety could be at risk!

UGI Utilities Natural Gas & Electric invoices recently included a newsletter with an article titled “Clogged Sewer Line.” It warned homeowners that if their drains are clogged and need to be cleared by a professional, they need to make sure that they call 811 to check for buried electric or gas lines in the area prior to clearing the line.

The reason for their warning is that a natural gas line could have been unintentionally installed through your sewer pipe. The equipment used to unclog sewer pipes could damage that natural gas pipe, leading to the dangerous release of natural gas and potentially causing a safety hazard INSIDE YOUR HOME or YOUR neighbor’s home.

You see, the latest technique for installing a natural gas line from the street to your home is by boring the line through your yard – no traditional excavation, no backfill and very minimal re-landscaping required. That’s the good news.

The hazardous news is that we’re finding exactly what UGI warned their customers could happen — gas lines that run right through sewer lines, called a “cross bore,” that can eventually cause a sewer line backup or even the need for complete sewer line replacement! Typically, you wouldn’t be aware of this situation and would not smell “gas” because the boring process is stronger than the sewer line materials. If you ever smell “gas”, evacuate the area immediately and call UGI from a safe distance away.

When a sewer line backs up, it is an urgent problem and if not resolved could leak raw sewage into your yard. If during the clearing process, the gas line was to be damaged and require emergency gas line repairs — UGI then charges these repairs and replacement costs to the contractor and/or the homeowner. How is that fair when UGI damaged your sewer line?

Pronto Plumbing & Rooter is offering a FREE Sewer Line Camera Inspection to anyone in the Camp Hill, Mechanicsburg, Harrisburg or our other service areas in neighboring Pennsylvania counties who have converted to natural gas and the “boring” technique was used to have the gas line installed. Let’s catch this BEFORE it’s a problem AND an expense that rightly should belong to UGI!

If it isn’t discovered until you have a back-up, it may be too late to hold UGI responsible for any damage that they may have caused. Not only would you suffer the inconvenience of a sewer line back-up, and the danger of a gas line rupture – but you might also have to pay to repair the gas line that was bored through YOUR sewer line.

7 Signs Your Furnace Is On Its Last Legs

December 29, 2016 by cmpdigital

Trying to discern if something needs repaired or replaced can be tough, especially as it gets older. If your furnace is getting up on years, or you’re noticing that it doesn’t seem to be working as well as it used to, it may indeed need replaced.

Here are some signs that your furnace may need replaced:

  1. Your furnace is making strange noises. Noticing banging, clanging or rattling noises? Does it sound like your furnace blower is constantly running? This is something that needs attention.
  2. Your heating bills are rising. It’s perfectly normal for gas and electric bills to fluctuate, but if you’re noticing that your bills are steadily rising, you may need to think about furnace replacements. As your furnace ages, it loses efficiency, especially if it hasn’t been properly and consistently maintained.
  3. You’re making frequent repairs. The occasional repair job is expected, especially with older models. The problem is when you start making multiple repairs constantly just to keep your furnace in working order. Most furnace breakdowns occur within the last two years of life expectancy.
  4. Your Burner Flame is the wrong color. Your burner flame should be a steady, bright blue. A flickering yellow flame is indicative of incomplete burn and potentially carbon monoxide.
  5. You’re constantly at the Thermostat. Are you constantly adjusting the thermostat in order to maintain comfort? Are some rooms cooler than others?
  6. You and your family are frequently sick. Flu symptoms are very similar to carbon monoxide exposure symptoms (headaches, nausea, trouble breathing).
  7. Your home air quality is dry or stuffy. Are you noticing your allergies are worse in the winter? Modern furnaces have the ability to clean and humidify the air, old or dying furnaces do not.

Make Winter More Bearable With A Humidifier

December 19, 2016 by cmpdigital

Winter has arrived in Central PA, meaning it is once again time to prepare to battle the elements and their side effects. Cold, dry rooms, dry and itchy skin and warped furniture are all symptoms of common winters here. But what if there was a very simple solution to most of these issues? Well there is, and it’s as simple as a humidifier.

What are some signs of dry air?

  • Cracks in wood furniture or moldings
  • Gaps in wood flooring
  • Dry, cracked, itchy skin
  • Excessive static electricity
  • Frequent illness -breathing dry air dries out your membranes providing a direct route for viruses to enter the bloodstream

Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. Thus, a humidifier adds water vapor to the air, making up for the harsh dryness that winter brings.

Humidifiers Can Contribute to Energy Savings

When the air is colder, it can’t retain as much water vapor. That vapor had previously acted as insulation for your body. The lack of water vapor causes you to feel colder, and turn up the thermostat.  Installing a humidifier would bring back the lost water vapor, thus restoring the “insulation” and allowing your body to be more comfortable at cooler temperatures.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that for each degree you turn down the thermostat, you save about 4% in monthly utility expenses.

Quick Bathroom Improvements For Holiday Guests

December 12, 2016 by cmpdigital

The holidays are upon us and that means company will be calling. Are you tired of showing guests to your dated and dingy bathrooms? Here are a few simple modifications that will revitalize any dated bathroom, and make your guests feel like you’ve just done a pricier remodel.

New lighting-New lighting can transform any dark and dingy space. Try statement lighting, or for maximum light, consider installing recessed lighting.

New fixtures-Replacing old or dated faucets and fixtures (even something as simple as drawer handles) can majorly change the look of your space, bringing a fresh new feel and update.

Paint-A fresh coat of paint can create a whole new room. Light colors help to create warmth and make a space feel larger (so avoid dark colors, especially if you have a smaller space). Try and avoid “trendy now” colors that will just date the room in a few years.

Mirror Molding-Add decorative molding to mirrors that have unfinished edges. This will create a more complete, modern and expensive look, as opposed to the builder grade mirrors.

Shower doors-A quick way to change your bathroom and make it seem larger and more modern, is to install shower doors, and remove dated curtains. Shower doors make a space feel larger and more open (and are much easier to clean).

Is Your Yard Safe For Holiday Decorations?

December 5, 2016 by cmpdigital

The holidays are upon us and it’s time to bring out the decorations and trimmings for your yard. But before you untangle your lights and scale any ladders, make sure you are practicing safety first with your equipment.

Remember to follow these tips when decorating your yard this season:

  • Make sure all lights and decorations are rated for outdoor use.
  • Outdoor electric lights should be plugged into circuits protected by Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI’s).
  • All outdoor receptacles should be covered (in case of rain or snow).
  • Inspect all decorations for damages before using.
  • Keep all extension cords and light strings away from water or snow.
  • Make sure spotlights are properly ventilated and a safe distance from anything flammable.
  • Keep decorations and equipment at least 10 feet away from power lines.
  • Make sure cords aren’t pinched by any heavy objects or furniture (damaging the cords insulation). Also, don’t hang light strings with nails or staples, they could also damage the cords insulation and present a fire hazard.
  • Always unplug electrical decorations before replacing bulbs or fuses.
